While most of us are still asleep, it’s all systems go in our transhipment warehouse in Zurich-Altstetten. During the night, fully-laden freight wagons from all over Switzerland carrying goods destined for Zurich arrive by rail at our municipal railway centre. These goods are unloaded, sorted and reloaded onto our general cargo and parcel vehicles. A couple of hours later, in the early morning, our drivers climb into the lorries and delivery vans and begin their final distribution on the so-called last mile.
Thanks to our 13 railway centres, spread throughout Switzerland, we can transport 60% of our entire shipment volume to the destination region overnight via low-emission rail, thereby significantly reducing our carbon emissions.
